Event DescriptionIn honor of its 40thanniversary, SCORE is offering a series of free workshops throughout 2012. “Intellectual Property 101: Key Considerations for Start-Ups and All Businesses” will be discussed on Wednesday, February 29 from 11:30am-1pm in the Bozeman Public Library’s Community Room. “Intellectual Property 101” will provide an overview of patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights. The process and value of obtaining these assets will be discussed with plenty of opportunity for questions and answers. This bring-your-own-brown-bag lunch session will provide a working knowledge of how businesses obtain and protect intellectual property rights. Presenter Jill Link is a patent attorney with the Iowa law firm of McKee, Voorhees & Sease, who is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She primarily focuses on Biotechnology-Chemical-Pharmaceutical patents and Licensing. Link’s practice involves the drafting and prosecuting of patent applications along with licensing to assist clients in both obtaining and monetizing intellectual property rights.
SCORE chapter members provide one-on-one counseling to businesses, start-ups, and non-profits at no charge. Appointments for hour-long counseling sessions on Tuesday mornings may be made by calling the Bozeman Area Chamber of Commerce office at 586-5421. A satellite office is located at Career Transitions in Belgrade.
